Together, we can visit the lookout tower in Gonjače or drive to Kotline and to the natural stone bridge Krčnik. We can also stop at the Dobrovo Castle or at the Renaissance villa Vipolže. In the cycling tour we can include tasting at the winemaker and try the local rebula wine. For all history lovers, we can drive to hill Sabotin and visit the Peace Park or walk through the village of Šmartno and admire the typical architecture of Brda.
Goriška brda are primarily known as a wine-growing region, famous for its top-quality wines and juicy and delicious cherries. In addition to viticulture and fruit growing, the local people also produces olive oil. Olive growing was widespread in Goriška brda and the wider Goriška region in the past. Over the decades, this activity began to decline, but is now on the rise again. Our San Martin farm has almost 500 olive trees of different varieties. The olives are planted in Goriška brda and in the small village of Zagora, which is part of the Soča Valley and the Julian Alps.
We can organize an olive oil tasting for you, where you will have the opportunity to get to know the flavors and aromas that our olive oil offers you. We produce two different lines, olive oil from Goriška brda and from the Julian Alps. In our largest olive grove in Šmartno, we can walk past different varieties of olive trees and other fruits and learn the basics of oil production.
